How to Raise a Mindful Child: Queen’s Brigade x Ujjwal Batra

Children today have it much tougher than ever before. They face immense pressure to achieve the highest levels of success in studies, sports, extra-curricular activities and other aspects of life. Overburdened with the expectations of their loved ones and attempting to keep up with our tech-driven and fast-paced lifestyles, they face constant hurdles to becoming their best selves. If you are concerned about how to raise a mindful child, the team at Queen’s Brigade is here to help you. After all, it is our responsibility as parents to equip them with the right attributes of mindfulness so they can pass through the challenges of life with flying colours.

Heena Sodhi Khera, Founder of Queen’s Brigade has always believed that the practice of mindfulness instils confidence and provides the strength to deal with strife. The best time to begin this practice is from a young age, so the process becomes a part of one’s life. Hence, she teamed up with mind-body therapist Ujjwal Batra of URJAA to conduct these one-of-a-kind workshops designed exclusively for young children and their parents. ‘Mindful Games for Kids’ workshops teach the practices of meditation and awareness in a fun and relatable format. These workshops are conducted on Whatsapp, and aim to teach parents to raise self-assured children, who can lead successful and happy lives. The reason for offering these workshops to parents is because they are the primary caregivers of their children, who absorb every emotion from them. It is important for parents to learn to deal with their emotions so they can help their children.

How to Raise a Mindful Child

Children are our mirrors – they only reflect the behaviour they observe from us. For example – when they display extreme temper, more often than not, it is because they have seen their parents yell at them or each other. Hence, for effective and lasting change in children, it is essential for the parents, especially mothers, to work on themselves first. With Ujjwal’s unique methods and expert guidance, mothers learn to resolve their own childhood issues, enabling them to raise a happy and mindful child themselves.

The workshop caters to children of ages 5 to 10 with dual participation of the kids along with at least one parent, though ideally with both. Doing the workshop together teaches both parents and children to connect with their inner selves. It also encourages inner healing and allows people to learn to love themselves.

Ujjwal Batra is a mind-body therapist and psychic who has worked with people in all ages and stages of life, for many years. His work within the healing sphere is highly accredited and well received. Many of his clients are healers and coaches themselves, and attest to seeing tremendous growth and awakening through his practice – a testament to his skill, experience and success as a therapist. He conducts periodic workshops under his brand name URJAA, through the convenient medium of Whatsapp groups. The success of this venture has brought Ujjwal Batra followers and clientele from around the globe.

In the last four years of conducting workshops on raising a mindful child, Queen’s Brigade and Ujjwal have had numerous happy participants who wholeheartedly endorse their services. Gayatri Kumar says, “it was a wonderful experience to be part of this workshop. We actually understood some very basic things which we never realised before and got so many answers for questions we never even thought to ask! It was fruitful for both me and my kid. Bless you Ujjwal and Heena! Thank you so much!”

Her thoughts are echoed by Hareena Virk Arora, who says, “it is important to keep a tab on our emotions and read the emotions of our little ones, as these emotions are like background music… They have the maximum impact, yet are given the least importance. Thank you to Heena and Ujjwal for taking this issue up!”

Each workshop on raising a mindful child, held thus far, has been designed with a specific age group and related problem in mind. The learnings from these sessions teach parents how to correctly inculcate values, while ensuring their roots remain strong. Most importantly, the workshops help to heal many issues that tend to stay unresolved for ages. Children learn the art of forgiveness and empathy, which brings happiness and inner peace in the long run. A minimum of three months are recommended in order to see sustained and effective change. The next workshop is scheduled to take place from May till July 2021.

The ‘Mindful Games for Kids’ workshops conducted by Queen’s Brigade and Ujjwal Batra are experiential and interactive. They are created specifically for mothers and children to embark on a common path of empowerment, inspiration and healing – and most importantly to teach how to raise a mindful child.

Date for next workshop: May till July 2021

Price: 3300/- for 3 months
